Apple unveiled the new iPod touch today at their special event, along with several other music- and media-related devices. Of course, we’ve been hearing murmurs and leaks about it for some time now, and the new device pretty much tallies with our expectations.
The two big improvements are the Retina screen and the dual cameras. Steve called it the “iPhone without a contract.” How candid!

Sharp shared some 3D camera goodness with Pocket-lint, just before they announced it at IFA today. In particular, Sharp revealed that they are working on a prototype for the iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S that will use two cameras built into a mobile device to shoot 3D footage. The concept device uses a lenticular lens to allow viewers to see an image in 3D without the use of glasses, making it ideal for a mobile phone, or other device. Sharp was extremely close lipped about when and where the new camera would start showing up, but the rep did say they were planning on launching something before the end of the year. Sharp is also showing of two other 3D screens today, a 3.8 and a monstrous 10.1 inch.. Neither of which will require 3D glasses to work.

Matt & Kim – “Cameras”
31 Aug
Matt & Kim’s new single, “Camera” is the funky tube-powered Summer’s End jam many of us have been waiting for; get ready to blast this in all white on Labor Day next Monday.
“Cameras” is the first piece of new music from the indie-pop duo since their critically acclaimed breakthrough LP, Grand. I’m assuming an announcement of a follow-up album to last year’s excellent Grand will soon follow. But for now, we only have “Cameras” (which you can buy on iTunes). You can hear the song below:

Eco Factor: Artwork created from eco-friendly materials.
We’ve frequently written about artwork created from environmentally friendly materials by eco-conscious artists, and from what we have already seen, cardboard seems to be the ideal material for most artists. American artist Kiel Johnson, who has already received numerous awards for his unique pieces of art, has now come up with cameras that are made from cardboard.
The designer, whose works normally represent near-obsolete machines, has beautifully crafted a range of cameras from cardboard. The collection includes SLRs, Polaroid cameras, point and shoot cameras, twin lens cameras and the retro 8mm cameras.
